About Deteema Springs Camp

Nestled atop the low foothills in the northwestern part of Hwange National Park lies the Deteema Springs Camp, an unassuming yet elegant camp designed to blend in with its natural surroundings. With a “less is more” approach, the camp offers guests a chance to experience the true essence of the African bush, without any pretensions.

The camp features comfortable tents, smaller in size than the traditional Machaba style, but complete with all the amenities of a luxury camp, including hot and cold running water, flush toilets, and private decks. The main area of the camp is tented on decks overlooking the Deteema Springs, providing guests with the perfect spot to relax and soak in the spectacular views of the surrounding African bush.

Guests can embark on game drives in the mornings and afternoons, which typically last for about three hours each. Led by experienced guides, these drives explore the river systems and floodplains around the camp, giving guests the opportunity to encounter some of Africa’s most iconic wildlife, such as large predators, herds of elephants and buffaloes, and an array of plains animals.

For those seeking a more intimate experience with nature, walking safaris are also available, typically conducted in the mornings with armed guides. These leisurely walks allow guests to observe the smaller aspects of the bush that are often missed while driving. Walking safaris are subject to weather conditions and terrain.
