Mboko Camp

Mboko Camp offers a unique opportunity for adventurers seeking a blend of kayaking, walking, and boating in some of the most exquisite habitats of the Congo Basin. The camp is a gateway to the Lekoli River, where you can glide through its winding channel on a kayak or explore the surrounding forest on foot or by boat. The possibilities are endless, and visitors can choose from a variety of activities to make the most of their stay.

Mboko Camp attracts an array of wildlife, including herds of forest buffalo and the elusive forest elephant. You can observe these majestic creatures from the elevated dining room while they graze on the savannah during breakfast, or spot fireflies twinkling in the twilight as night falls. If you’re lucky, you may even glimpse the spotted hyena prowling in the shadows.

Ten guest chalets, including double-occupancy and two family options, are perched along the banks of a free-flowing tributary of the Lekoli River. Each chalet is carefully designed to offer a serene and comfortable stay, complete with a private deck offering views of the forest or river. Inside, guests will find an en-suite bathroom with a hot shower and flush toilet, mosquito nets, and eco-friendly toiletries.

The dining room, lounge, and bar area boast magnificent views of the grassland savannah and the star deck and fire pit that are natural extensions of these living spaces. Here, guests can unwind and watch the equatorial jungle glow in the sunset or be mesmerized by the lightning dancing along the horizon.

The spacious cabins are dotted along the Lekoli River, offering a breathtaking interface between tropical rainforest, waterways, and grassland savannah. As you relax in your private space, you may spot butterflies and flowers (depending on the season) in profusion, adding to the unique experience. At night, the camp offers an ideal opportunity to stargaze before falling asleep to the sound of water flowing past each cabin on its way to meet the Congo River, providing a peaceful haven in the heart of the forest.
