Guests are warmly welcomed to Mkulumadzi lodge, where they cross a footbridge suspended over the Mkulumadzi River and enter a world of comfort and luxury. The lodge features an indoor and outdoor dining restaurant, a bar, a lounge and terrace, a shop, a swimming pool, a viewing deck, a sleep-out star deck, and a lapa for evening campfires.
Mkulumadzi is the perfect blend of luxury and seclusion, with eight magnificent chalets located on the banks of the Shire River, shaded by wild mango and giant leadwood trees. Each chalet offers a spacious bedroom and lounge, an ensuite bathroom, an outdoor shower, and a private viewing deck. Here, guests can relax and appreciate the sights and sounds of the river.
The bush chalets are both luxurious and spacious, furnished with contemporary decor, including locally-sourced materials. The chalets are filled with natural light, immersing guests in the forest without compromising on comfort and privacy. The outdoor shower boasts a large rain shower, open to the surrounding bush, with stone-clad walls ensuring privacy.
Each chalet also features a sloping vegetated roof, planted with indigenous species such as aloes, succulents, shrubs, and grasses, reducing the environmental impact while keeping the chalets cool in the hotter months.
Morning and late afternoon game drives and walking safaris offer guests ample time to relax beside the pool, watch the resident bird population, or listen to the hippopotamuses wallowing in the river. Guests are invited to enjoy afternoon tea on the terrace, followed by dinner under the stars in the evening.
