About Pumulani Lodge

Pumulani is not just any African beach lodge – it’s an exquisite sanctuary of luxury, personalized service, and breathtaking views of Lake Malawi. Renowned Dutch architect G. Hooft Graafland meticulously designed each of the ten villas, taking inspiration from the surrounding natural beauty and adapting them to their unique locations. The sweeping curves of the spacious villas gracefully mirror the patterns and movements of the lake, ensuring that they blend seamlessly into their stunning surroundings.

Every villa boasts a generously-sized bedroom that leads out onto a private deck, perfect for soaking up the early morning sun. The spacious bathrooms offer magnificent views and are equipped with a double shower, bathtub, and double sink. The lounge area is perfect for guests who want to unwind in the comfort of their own room.

Pumulani’s central area comprises an open restaurant with an undercover area, bar, and a cosy fire area, all offering spectacular views of the lake. One of the two infinity swimming pools is situated on a lower terraced deck, while the other is down by the beach accessible via three raised walkways with steps leading off from the central area to the villas. The name Pumulani is derived from the local Chichewa language and means “rest well” – and that is exactly what guests can expect to do in this beautiful and tranquil haven.
