Day 2: Windhoek - Hoanib Valley Camp
After breakfast, check out from your room and board your transfer to Hosea Kutako International Airport. This safari begins at the airport where you’ll meet your pilot and take to the skies for the flight to Hoanib Valley Camp. On arrival you will be met and assisted to your transfer to your lodge. After settling into your lodge, you'll have the rest of the day at leisure to explore the surroundings or simply relax and soak up the breathtaking views. The Hoanib Valley is known for its diverse and unique wildlife, so keep your eyes peeled for desert-adapted elephants, giraffes, lions, black rhinos, and mountain zebras as you wander through the area. Alternatively, you can choose to learn more about the local culture and interact with the Himba and Herero tribes. Dinner will be served at the lodge, with a chance to reflect on your first day in Namibi
Day 3-4: Kaokoveld
Over the next two days, immerse yourself in the awe-inspiring landscapes of Namibia while searching for desert-adapted wildlife such as elephants and giraffes. Enjoy a morning coffee amidst the striking mountain scenery and visit traditional villages of the Himba peoples, who have adapted to this challenging environment. In Namibia, the natural beauty of the land is just as captivating as the wildlife that calls it home. The arid, barren landscapes of the north may seem inhospitable, but they are home to an incredible variety of wildlife that has adapted to survive in these harsh conditions. Look out for desert elephants digging deep holes in the riverbed and elegant giraffes delicately feeding on leaves high up in the trees as you explore the Hoanib Valley.
Day 5: Kaokoveld - Skeleton Coast
As you embark on the next leg of your journey, you'll traverse towards the Skeleton Coast, a remote and stunning wilderness that seems to belong to another world. This full-day trip is truly an unforgettable drive and will take you through the stunning Hoanib River, home to impressive elephant herds. You'll then follow the course of the Hoarusib River, as the dry plains make way for a clay-baked terrain. The coastal breeze will begin to intensify as you move closer, and soon the landscapes around you will transform into gleaming white sand dunes.
Day 6-7: Skeleton Coast
Some might say this is when the real adventure begins! You'll have the chance to visit the seals at Mowe Colony, walk across the lunar landscapes, discover the secrets of the desert, and clamber over the whale-bones and shipwrecks on the coast. Your days at the award-winning Shipwreck Lodge will be filled with exciting activities, including quad biking, visits to the Clay Castle and seal colony, and game drives. Alternatively, you may choose to simply relax and take in the breathtaking views. At Shipwreck Lodge, you can expect to encounter giraffe, lion, baboons, elephant, and elusive brown hyena in the dunes. Meanwhile, at the coast, you'll find hundreds of Cape fur seals at the Mowe Bay Seal Colony, and plenty of birds flitting through the chilly ocean spray.
Day 8: Departure
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, you will prepare to board the light aircraft that will take you to Windhoek Airport. This marks the end of your incredible Namibian adventure, and it's time to say goodbye to this beautiful country. At the airport, you will catch your international flight and begin your journey back home. Take the memories of your adventure with you, and cherish them forever.
