Day by day program

Day 1: Arrive Malawi

Welcome to Malawi! Upon arrival at Blantyre International Airport, you will be greeted by our friendly staff and transferred to Mkulumadzi, your luxurious accommodation for the duration of your stay. The scenic 2.5-hour drive to the camp will take you through picturesque landscapes of vibrant villages, farmland, and untamed bush. As you settle into your comfortable accommodation, take a moment to admire the stunning surroundings and appreciate the tranquility of your new home away from home. The rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy at your leisure. Take a refreshing dip in the pool, relax on your private deck and soak up the sights and sounds of the African wilderness, or indulge in a spa treatment to unwind after your journey.

Day 2 - 3: Majete Wildlife Reserve

Located in one of the most breathtaking settings in Africa, your luxurious lodge offers an array of exciting activities for you to enjoy during your stay. Whether you prefer action-packed adventures or prefer a more relaxed pace, there's something for everyone. Embark on exhilarating game drives and bush walks and explore the majestic Majete Wildlife Reserve. Hike up Majete Hill and marvel at the stunning views from the top. Track the elusive black rhino and learn about the conservation efforts being made to protect this endangered species.

Day 4: Majete Wildlife Reserve - Liwonde National Park

After a delicious breakfast and fond farewells, we'll embark on a scenic road transfer that will take us to Kuthengo Camp. The journey will take approximately 3-4 hours, during which time you can sit back, relax and take in the stunning landscapes of Malawi. As we arrive at Liwonde National Park, get ready to be amazed by one of the most beautiful and diverse birding locations in Southern Africa. The park's scenic beauty, surrounded by the tranquil Shire River, creates an idyllic atmosphere for wildlife viewing and birdwatching. The park is home to a thriving population of majestic elephants, which are best viewed during a leisurely boat safari along the picturesque Shire River. The river meanders through the heart of the park and offers a unique perspective of the landscape, with stunning views of the wildlife and vegetation that thrive in this ecosystem. Kuthengo Camp is the perfect base from which to explore Liwonde National Park, offering comfortable accommodation and world-class service. Day 5 - 6: Liwonde National Park

Get ready for unforgettable experiences in the wild as we embark on game drives by day and by night in open vehicles, walks, and boat safaris. Discover the beauty of the Shire River and its lagoons, which offer an excellent opportunity to spot elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and a diverse range of birdlife. Birding enthusiasts will be delighted by the chance to see rare and exotic species, including Lillian's lovebird, brown-breasted barbet, osprey, palmnut vulture, Pel's fishing owl, and Livingstone's flycatcher. For an even closer encounter with nature, we offer a unique viewing hide located on a tributary of the Shire River. We also provide opportunities to visit the local school and surrounding rural communities, where you can learn about Malawi's rich cultural heritage and interact with the friendly locals. These days will be filled with incredible wildlife encounters and immersive cultural experiences, providing memories that will last a lifetime.

Day 7: Liwonde National Park - Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve

Get ready for a scenic 5-hour drive transfer to Nkhotakota Reserve, taking in the stunning landscape and rich cultural heritage along the way. This undiscovered gem is firmly off the beaten track and has only recently been inhabited by humans, making it a truly unique destination. Our destination is Tongole, an eco-tourism venture nestled deep within the Miombo woodland of the Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve. The camp is situated on the banks of the picturesque Bua River, west of Lake Malawi, offering the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure.

Day 8 - 10: Nkhotakota Reserve

You have three full days to immerse yourself in the beauty of Nkhotakota Reserve. During your stay, you will have a unique opportunity to learn about African Parks' recent elephant translocation project and the vital conservation work they are doing in the reserve. Get ready to witness firsthand the breathtaking landscapes, pristine wilderness, and diverse wildlife of this untouched gem.

Day 11: Departure

Today marks the end of your adventure in Malawi. After breakfast, you will be transferred back to Lilongwe in time for your onward flight or travel arrangements. As you leave, take with you unforgettable memories of the warm hospitality, breathtaking landscapes, and incredible wildlife that Malawi has to offer. We hope to see you again soon!
