Mgahinga is home to three extinct volcanoes that form part of the Virunga Conservation Area. These conical peaks offer breathtaking scenery, as well as biologically diverse slopes and ecosystems. Whether visiting on the Ugandan or Rwandan side, the walk to see them will take visitors from the bamboo stands and forested gorge on the lower levels of the volcanoes to the elevated heath and moorland higher up.
