So what makes one safari good and another safari great?

We believe that what makes one safari good and another great can be attributed to tiny differences during the planning process. There are thousands of different safari packages online, all of which sell the same destinations, more or less the same hotels and lodges, but end up delivering entirely different experiences. Having a travel agent that understands how to plan your day; when you should wake up, go on a game drive, does the mood requires suggesting a slow bush dinner or a quick snack before embarking on the next activity? How all these combine is what ultimately determines whether your African safari will be a great experience or just another tour.

1. Close your eyes and try to remember the best safari stories you’ve heard from Africa.

Do you have close friends or family that have been on safari in Africa? What stories did they share that inspired you to consider travelling to Africa? Or perhaps you just read some articles online, saw a film or perhaps some pictures of the big five. Whatever your source of inspiration, this is where we believe you should start. Close your eyes and picture yourself in those stories, imagine you are there. What do you like? Are there things you don’t you like? What does your soul truly desire?

Are you unsure of the kind of experiences you prefer? No worries! We have put together some themes that might help get you started in designing your best safari in Africa. Click on any of the travel styles below, each travel style contains a group of itineraries based off that theme.

3. While on safari, slow down and take in what’s happening around you.

Nowadays, most safaris have become a race to spot the big five. Because of this rush, many tourists miss out on a golden opportunity to create a connection with nature. While planning your next safari in Africa, we challenge you to slow down and take in the little moments. E.g. Include in your itinerary a 30min stop at a water hole, if doable, alight from your vehicle and observe elephants as they bath and cool down, while you sip a drink with a nonchalant African sunset in the background. By doing this, you shall experience a change in how you observe nature, and who knows, you might also experience a change inside of you as well. After all, that is where true magic really lives.
